What a loss!

I saw him during the 14th international conference on the strength of materials in Xi'an this June. He gave an invited talk on dislocations on his wheelchair. He appreciated the Chinese hosters and especially the students from Xian Jiaotong for their support during his stay and for the success of the conference. He is a calm, but sharp old man. I couldn't imagine the material and mechanics communities lost him so soon!
